Sažetak
Aim: to compare flow-volume curve (FV-C) and Metacholine challenge test (MCT) results in determination of inflamation and bronchial hyperreactivity (BHR) in asthmatic children. Method: 57 children aged 12.5 ±2.8 y diagnosed with asthma performed tests: FV-C and MCT using Masterscope Jaeger APS dosimeter for bronchoprovocation. Results: 57 children with asthma (31 m, 26 f) underwent 65 MCT and FV-C. According to Guidelines for Metacholine and exercise challenge testing – 1999. Am J Respir Crit Care Med Vol 161. pp309-29 the following categories of hyperreactivity were used: PC20 (mg/ml) PD20 (μg) PD20 (μg) cumul. No. Interpretation >16 >1066.7 >1420.8 0 Normal BHR 4-16 266.7-1066.7 354.2-1420.8 35 Borderline BHR 1-4 66.7-266.7 87.5-354.2 26 Mild BHR (positive) <1 <66.7 <87.5 4 Moderarte to severe BHR FV-C: 49 (75%) within range (FEV1, FVC, FEF75, FEF50, FEF25: all >80% predicted), FV-C: 16 (25%) outside range (FEV1, FVC, FEF75, FEF50 or FEF25: <80% predicted), Bronchodilatation test (BT, salbutamol: 200 mg): 29 (45%) positive ; FV-C+BT: 34 (52%) positive. Conclusion: In estimating BHR in children with asthma, MCT showed to be the most usefull: 30 (53%) clearly positive results, 57 (100%) when summed with borderline positive. Next was combination (FV-C+BT): 34 (52%) positive, and then BT: 29 (45%) and FV-C: 16 (25%) positive.
