Sažetak
The ionospheric delay has been identified as the single major contributor to total position estimation error for satellite navigation systems. Traditionally identified with its common daily dynamics cosine pattern, the GPS ionospheric delay has been modelled accordingly in order to provide the appropriate corrections for commercial single-frequency GPS receivers. Here we report the identification of the different pattern of the GPS ionospheric delay daily dynamics, observed in Summer intervals of quiet space weather. The identified anomaly has a potentially significant impact on the GPS position estimation quality for air and maritime navigation, and, to a lesser extent, for personal and road navigation. The statistical description of the newly observed GPS ionospheric delay daily dynamics is presented, and the prospects for its utilisation in development of the local GPS ionospheric delay model discussed.
