Sažetak
Considering the fact that the largest volume of cargo uses water transportation, "it is necessary to achieve more with the existing equipment", and this is the basic syntagm of intelligent transport systems (ITS). Ports, berths and terminals represent significant refraction points of the traffic system and they are very suitable for the introduction of ITS related to certain operations within. Thus, the following may be considered: automatic identification of cargo, vehicles and drivers, then the navigation control system and other elements. The starting basis consists of the intelligence of vessels and other navigation means, which relies on the information and communication systems in water transportation. That section will deal with GPS, GLONASS, INMARSAT and other systems. The simulation model of introducing ITS into water transport is based on the steps of developing a conceptual simulation model, which include identification of the problem, identification of the entities and identification of cause-effect relations. The simulation model provides algorithms representing links and relations of single water transportation system elements, as well as changes in these relations with the influence of these changes on the operation of the whole system. In conclusion, the basic assumptions of introducing ITS will be represented, its advantages and applicability on one of the port systems.
