Sažetak
In a time where market gets more and more global, land surveying technologies and techniques are changing and developing in order to fulfil requirements of modern society where more and more data has to be acquired in shorter period of time. Although the basic principles of geodesy have not changed, the surveying instruments and methods have improved substantially in past thirty years. Computers today have a wide range of possibilities, while measuring instruments are becoming computers for themselves. The measurement accuracy is much higher and the time required for collecting and processing data has been also significantly reduced. While in the past most land surveyors had access to little more than a level, tape measure and a theodolite, modern land surveyors have access to much more advanced technologies, such as total stations, robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, 3D scanners, digital levels, surveying software etc. The paper gives a short overview of land surveying methods and instruments through the history in past 200 years. Authors analysed time required for surveying and data processing with different land survey methods and instruments through different time periods.
