Sažetak
This paper shows the applicability of nonlinear static N2 method for estimation of seismic behavior of regular reinforced concrete buildings taking into account soil-structure interaction effects. The method uses ground motion recordings in acceleration-displacement form thus providing a relatively clear insight of the relationships among fundamental parameters that affect the seismic response of a structure. Reinforced concrete buildings were designed according to European codes for low ductility in order to see the influence of soil on the capacity of the overall soil-foundation-superstructure system. Although it is well known that the soil-structure effects may significantly reduce demand capacity of a structure, current practice still neglects the influence of the soil in routine analysis and design. Parametric study was conducted for five different building heights and for four different soil categories as defined in European codes. Numerical models of the buildings were made using software SAP2000 and were calibrated against experimental data obtained from laboratory tests conducted in LNEC, Lisbon, Portugal. The experimental tests were conducted within a competition as a part of the 15th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering. The soil was modeled using springs and dashpots as suggested in numerous literatures.
