Sažetak
Existing studies in Croatia related to the wind loads upon structures have been insufficient which is reflected in inadequate national regulations about the wind loaded structures. In addition, until recently all wind loads were treated as static forces and displacements. This approach is particularly dangerous in situations with gusty, turbulent winds such as the bura wind that blows along the Adriatic coast of Croatia. // All this findings have initiated the measurements of the bura wind speed every second at three locations in very complex terrain characterised with different positions regarding the surrounding orographic features and different anemographic height. The measurements were performed during March-April 1999 within the project "The action of dynamic wind load upon structures" which is supported by the Ministry of science and technology and the Telecommunication centre in Split. // This paper presents the results of the bura wind case study on 16 April 1999. Differences in registered wind speed on three considered location have been described in order to show how important is to have the measured time interval as short as it could be. Finally, the influence of measured wind speeds on structures wind load has been analysed. It is shown that the reliability of standard transmission line pylons is directly dependent upon the local action of the bura wind.
