Sažetak
Tc-99m ECD, a new derivative of diamine dithiol (DADT) family, has been developed recently. This lipophilic neutral Tc-99m complex in the L-L stereoisomeric form crosses the blood-brain barrier and reacts with a specific esterase enzyme which hydrolyses the two ester groups, resulting in Tc-99m ECD retention in the brain (Walovitch 1988). Tc-99m ECD demonstrated high initial cerebral uptake and slow clearance in non-human primates, characteristics suitable for SPECT imaging. Using planar and SPECT techniques, we determined brain washout characteristics of Tc-99m ECD in normal humans.
