Sažetak
Fast development and expansion of cities has been followed by the development of traffic infrastructure of all transport modes. At the current level of mobility, all the negative consequences of this fast and too many times uncontrolled development of certain transport modes have started to occur. All the harmful and negative impacts have to be considered, including land occupancy, noise, pollution of certain transport modes and determine the guidelines for the development of those transport forms that in certain situations have the possibility of optimal exploitation with least negative effects on the quality of living in the urban centres. It is necessary to determine the basic transport mode in urban and suburban traffic, traffic flows, ways of attracting passengers to the particular transport mode and to use economic and political measures to influence the affirmation and development of that same mode as well as its infrastructure.
