Sažetak
The basic syntagm of intelligent transport systems (ITS) is to do more with the existing equipment, and it fully describes the fast and efficient way of improving process of transport systems. Intelligent transport systems apply appropriate communication, control and electronic technologies as well as hardware and software with the aim of improving the performance of the transport systems. The development of ITS is motivated by greater difficulties � social, political, and economic ones, as well as by increasing the transport capacities. ITS represents the intention to use the possibilities of advanced technologies for improvement in transport at many levels. The methodology of developing ITS has to be planned in such a way to define the guidelines of establishing the system that will function over a long period of time, using technical means and technologies and connecting a number of managerial and organizational bodies.
