Sažetak
The identifcication and safe collection of radiation sources that were found under ruins in the war-affected areas of Croatia were possible because of a well organized regulatory efford, including the registration opf sources. These practices are also applicable to other situations caused by various disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes and could be a guide for regulatory authorities who design emergency preparedness plans. The procedures we have described are in full accord with the newly formulated recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection, especially those related to the introduction of potential dose in the licensing of sealed radiation sources.
