Sažetak
Croatia has no offical register of people with dementia. Although Croatia is considered as one of the countries with oldest populations in Europe, some recent publications state that the prevalence of dementia in Croatia is approximately 80, 000. In Croatia, there are many psychiatric institutions with acute and chronic psychiatric beds, such as Department of Psychiatry Vrapče (99 bed), Psychiatric Hospital in Popovača (50 bed), Psychiatric Hospital Lopača (90), Psychiatric Hospital Rab (43), Psychiatric hospital Ugljan (126). Croatia does not have a national dementia plan or any special provosion of care and support people with dementia.People with dementia with severe psychiatric symptoms and behaviour disorders are admitted to psychogeriatric wards in the larger Croatian psychiatric hospitals. Alzheimer Croatia has organised various lectures and participated in many meeting, conferences and congresses dealing with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
