Sažetak
Paralyzed people are treated as handicapped or disabled, but children with such disabilities continue to be integrated into regular classrooms. They are expected to handle the same curriculum in almost the same way as “regular” children, but that is not often that easy. Making the most appropriate decisions how to help them and how to evaluate their learning is very difficult for their teachers. To supplement traditional education teaching methods, teacher can use software as an interactive multimedia designed unit of instruction. This requirement acquires even greater significance in smaller non-English speaking countries where the need for educational software in their national languages is more thoroughly emphasized. In our country there is very few software titles in Croatian language that are being sold and that are not all appropriate for such children. Each teacher must draw conclusions regarding their children ability to reach the goal outcomes of the topics they are teaching, and consider that children with similar abilities may not respond in the same manner to the same software program. This paper presents the outcome of the preliminary preparations for the first stage of the ongoing research that deals with the education of paralyzed children using the multimedia courseware.
