Sažetak
In this paper we made a retrospective analysis of the treatment of metastatic brain tumors in the five year period. Between 2009-2013. we treated ten patients with initial metastatic disease: 5 boys and 5 girls range in age from six to sixteen year. Among these children, we had three with medulloblastoma, one with primitive neuroectodermal tumor-PNET, two with anaplastic ependymomas, two with germinative tumors and 2 glial tumors. All patients had a neurosurgical procedure of maximal tumor removal or possible reduction of tumor. Children with medulloblastoma, PNET and ependymoma were treated according to the HIT 2000 protocol and HIT-rez protocol, while children with germinative tumors treated with SIOP-GCT protocol. Patients with glial tumors are initially treated by LGG 2004 protocol. In all patients conformal radiotherapy was performed. In nine patients was implanted intraventicular Omaya catheter. In this group five children are alive- three without residual disease, three in stable disease. Two patients werw on maintenance therapy. In three patients megatherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation was performed (2 medulloblastoma, 1 PNET). Five patients died due to progression of disease. We have not encountered a serious coplication during treatment. Control imaging- MRI of neuroaxis with contrast was conducted every 3 months in regular situation. During treatment children have intensive suportive therapy: medication, physical and psychosocial rehabilitation.
