Sažetak
This paper attempts to present differences in exposure to lead in air on two measuring sites, city center of Zagreb (high car density) and village Jakusevac, during the one-year period (october 1999.-september 2000). Chronic exposure to lead can affect many organ systems, like hematological and neurological. 24-hours samples of particulate meter (PM) were collected from about 300 m3 of air. After samples preparation the analyses were performed using flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Mean concentration of lead in Zagreb was 0.22 ľg/m3 with the lowest concentration of lead of 0.06 in january and the highest concentration of 0.86 ľg/m3 measured in august. The results in Jakusevac varied from 0.02 to 0.27 ľg/m3 with mean concentration of lead 0.08 ľg/m3. The results show that population is exposed to higher concentration in the vicinity of places with high density traffic. Average winter concentration of lead were higher than during the summer.
