Sažetak
Medical Supplies Service is an expert pharmaceutical activity and constitutes the integral part of the Health Service in the Republic of Croatia. Legal, professional and ethical obligations of a pharmaceutical worker are to provide and distribute, under all conditions, controlled and tested drugs and other medical supplies, in sufficient quantities and on time. Carefully planned, rational and flexible organization, permanent source of controlled and high quality supplies, creative cooperation of all subjects participating in the activity and constant exchange of the necessary information all together contribute to elimination of a danger of shortage of medical supplies that may occur in war and states of emergency. National pharmaceutical and medical supplies industries, medical supplies for medical institutions, Croatian Army units and the population of Croatia during the war and states of emergency. Donations have constituted one of the mayor sources of medical supplies during the Croatian Liberation War, having largely contributed to preventing shortages, especially of vital supplies. This contribution still remains to be evaluated. In war and states of emergency pharmaceutical workers must focus their attention on the planning of needs, distribution of supplies and the follow up of expenditure is of crucial importance in these circumstances. Only educated and well-prepared pharmaceutical and other health workers can secure high quality, rational and efficient medical supplies service.
