Sažetak
Based on the proposed intelligent instrumentation system model, the paper evaluates two embedded knowledge representation formalisms appropriate for complex measurement and control applications. A traditional method which adds a distinctive and detached knowledge base into a logic program is compared to a knowledge representation formalism embedded in the database itself. It is shown that the latter approach yields in a common user interface and faster system design but knowledge expressiveness is bounded.
