Sažetak
The use of oral contraceptives (OCs) increases the risk of thromboembolism. This risk increases among older women. In an effort to reduce this risk, newer combinations with lower oestrogen dose and new progestin components were introduced. The most commonly side effects associated with OCs use are nausea, vomiting and migraine. Methods: The study was conducted in the City of Zagreb during the 2005-2008 period, by using various data sources, i.e. data on drug utilization from the City Pharmacy Zagreb, data on side effects from the Agency for Drugs and Medicinal Products and data on the causes of mortality
