Sažetak
The 6 minute walk test (6MWT) is useful method to esteem the functional impairment, prognosis and aptness for lung transplantation in different pulmonary disorders. To assess the range of functional capacity/impairment upon exercise in various radiological stages of pulmonary sarcoidosis. Retrospectively 42 sarcoidosis pts (22 F, 20 M) from KBC Jordanovac, Zagreb, Croatia have been processed. Chest X-ray, spirometry, CO diffusing capacity (DLco), 6MWT, Borg dyspnea score and oxygen saturation prior and post 6MWT were performed. 24 pts were sarcoidosis radiologic stage I, 12 STD II and 6 STD III. All patients had reduced values of 6MWT, except two. Average distance covered in 6MWT was 472m, 30 patients (72%) walked >500m, 9(21%) >400m and 3(7%) <400m. DLco, oxygen saturation before and after test and forced vital capacity (FVC) showed moderate correlation (r= 0.48, r=0.42, r=0.51), and Borg dyspnea score, strong negative correlation (r=-0.69) with 6MWT. Higher dyspnea degree patients had shorter 6MWT (p <0.0001). Oxygen saturation, in all patients groups, before and after 6MWT showed no significant decline (p>0.05). Almost all patients with sarcoidosis had reduced 6MWT values. Pulmonary function tests showed moderate positive correlation, and Borg dyspnea score significant negative correlation with 6MWT. The 6MWT and Borg dyspnea score after exercise are significant indicators of patient’s functional status.
