Sažetak
A new analytical system for detecting therapeutically and diagnostically important edetates is described. The method is based on the complexing action of edetate anion to remove ferri ion from ferrioxamine B immobilized on Dowex HCR(H^+) resin. Decomposition of the coloured chelate leads to a gradual fading of the deep brown-violet resin beads. The identification limit for anhydrous Na_2H_2EDTA is 0.9 microgram in aqueous medium and 1.9 microgram in original urine. Reliable, rapid and simple monitoring of edetate elimination is possible if a matrix test is used as a reference.
