Sažetak
The ichthyological collection of the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (IOF) in Split dates from 1906. Altogether 291 fish species (including Cyclostomata) of about 405 species known for the Adriatic, which have been collected so far, are separated in 23 orders and 97 families: 1 lamprey, 32 cartilaginous fish and 258 bony fish. The collection also includes eight fish species from the eastern Mediterranean coasts some of which are immigrants to the Mediterranean from the Red Sea through the Suez Canal.
