Sažetak
During 19th and 20th century many Croatian travelers, merchants, wealthy citizens, and noblemen travelled to Egypt and Orient. Some of them wrote their diaries, some collect antiquities and some published newspaper articles about their travels. One of such scholars was Grga Novak, professor of Ancient history at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zagreb and later member of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. During the early 1930's he travelled to Egypt in two occasions. First travel to Egypt occurred during December 1932 and first few months of 1933. His views about this travel were published in daily paper Novosti during 1933, and later as traveling diary in 1945. His second scholarly travel to Egypt happened between 30 June and 16th July 1935 and it was published in journal Jadranska straža during the same year. In this paper I would like to give short overview about life and work of Grga Novak with the special overview about his travels to Egypt in 1932/1933 and 1935.
