Sažetak
Paper presents the optimalization of fresh water resources management achieved on a specific insular karst locality in Croatia - depression Ponikve on the island of Krk. Formed surface accumulation, besides the fact that by itself consists of some reserves of water that infiltrates the underground areas from where is pumped out, slows down the drainage of underground water toward underground abyss zone also, and increases the dynamic reserves of water during a dry period of the year.
Hydrological characteristics and the regime of water fluctuation in the depression- accumulation Ponikve- is analysed, for the period before and after water-gate construction, as well as the effect of increased water pumping from that location. Paper shows that even in such sensitive hydrological systems, such as relatively small insular karst aquifer of the Krk island, is possible to increase the exploitative quantities of fresh water, with meaningful artificial constructions.
