Sažetak
None of the available directory services succeeded in covering a larger community while attracting individual members to supply and maintain their personal data in a prompt and willing way. In the same time, the pace of the proliferation of the information technology and the growth of the user base, position the service of locating people among the tasks with the highest priorities. Therefore a new service GoPIS (Gopher based Personal Identification Service) has been designed. It is aimed at putting users in charge of their data while making it very easy to implement and acquire the initial data about users by the leverage of existing, widely used network services: Gopher, WAIS, Jugehead and Veronica.
