Sažetak
This study is focused on the effects of a organophospourus compound dichlorvos (DDVP) on buthyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) activity and lipid and lipoprotein metabolism in rats. Male and female Wistar rats were treated intraperioneally with single or multiple DDVP doses (8.0 mg/kg body weight). BuChE activity, concentration of serum lipids and lipoproteins were determined 4., 7., and 18. days after 1, 2, and 3 DDVP administrations, respecitvely. BuChE measurements were performed in plasma, liver, white and brown adipose tissue samples in order to obtain a complete picture of changes. Readings of trygliceride, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol served to monitor the status of lipids in the plasma. Changes in BuChE activity invariably affected the concentrations of lipid fractions after DDVP administration. Lower BuChE activity (40-60 % of its control activity) in the rat plasma was accompanied by a significant increase in trigliceride ( 60-600 % ; p < 0.05), total cholesterol (35-75 % ; p < 0.05) and HDL cholesterol (20-30 % ; p < 0.05), whereas LDL cholesterol significantly decreased (30-40 % ; p < 0.05), regardless of sex.
