Sažetak
To assess the current scope and status of oral medicine specific software (OMSS) used to support clinical care, research and education in oral medicine (OM). Study design An invitation letter explaining the objective was sent to the members OM professional associations around the globe of the European Association of Oral Medicine (EAOM), American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM), national OM societies and personal contacts. Respondents to the invitation letter were subsequently interviewed. Results Ten OMSS were identified. Four were used for clinical care exclusively, 1 was used for research exclusively, 2 were used for education, while 3 OMSS were multipurpose. Detail about the software functionalities, users’ experience and benefit is presented in the paper. Conclusions The OMSS presented here demonstrate how information technology can positively impact the quality of patient care, research and education in the field of OM. Strategy for broader implementation of OMSS is proposed.
