Sažetak
The Bronze Age was a first great urban period in the southern Levant area. It was marked by the emergence of urban centres followed by their collapse and subsequent reemergence. Decyphering the interactions between the different components of society (rural sedentary, nomadic, semi-nomadic and urban) is essential for reconstructing these processes. Using analytical methods in comparing data from several sites the author of the paper will provide an understanding of the interactions between urban, rural and nomadic population highlighting the crucial role that rural villages provided for the economic foundation of the rise of Levantine urbanized society.
