Sažetak
In contiunation of our studies on C- and O-ferrocenylalkylation of hydroxycarboxylic esters1, 2 reactions of 1,1'-ferrocenylenebis(carbinyl acetates) and derived bisquaternary iodides with methyl salicylate were performed.
According to the described procedures biscarbinols Fn(CHROH)2 (1) were prepared and transformed into the corresponding bisacetates 2. 1,1'-Ferrocenedicarboxylic acid (3) was transformed via dichloride into N,N-dimethylamide 4, which was reduced giving amine 5a and quaternized by MeI to the salt 6a. Amination of bisacetate 2b with Me2NH and quaternization of the intermediate amine 5b gave iodide 6b. A solution of reagents 2a (6a) in methyl salicylate containing sodium was refluxed for 2 hours, giving 8 (14)% of 7a and 10 (14)% of 8a. Under the similar conditions 2b (6b) gave 10 (3)% of 7b and 4 (9)% of 8b, followed by elimination products 9 and 10. Similarly, acetate 2c was transformed into 8% of 7c, 15% of 8c and 6% of 11. Mechanisms of formation of heteroannular nonsymmetric ferrocene derivatives 7-13 will be proposed.
