Sažetak
The most interesting effects obtained by ultrasound treatment are concerned with the possibility of reducing aging tendency, established on polyamide and aramide fibers. As one possibility of the most prominent disadvantages of Twaron (fibers which are used in ballistic protection) is its tendency to age under the impact of UV light, the effect produced by ultrasound could have significant practical value. By ultrasound treatment of polyester fibers in an adequate medium, most of oligomeres can be separated from the fiber. This type of treatment causes oligomeres to migrate from the inner part of the fiber towards its surface and further on, into the treatment bath, without any detrimental accumulation or crystallization on the surface of the fiber. Positive impact on mechanical and sorption properties were also noted for most of the fibers tested, provided the treatment was done under optimal conditions.
