Sažetak
In order to optimally arrange the laser pulsed time-of-flight measurement system, temporal response characteristics of GaAs laser source and Si avalanche photo detector have been measured and statistically analyzed. A laser turn-on delay time characteristics were measured as a function of the injection current through the diode. The response time of the Si avalanche photodiode has been measured at different levels of the incident light intensity. The experimental results show that, once a stable laser output pulse and a fast avalanche photodiode operation have been established, the time-of-flight measurement accuracy is mainly determined by the characteristics of the timing discriminators.
