Sažetak
The Croatian National Folk Dance Ensemble Lado, for its 60th anniversary, published a comprehensive monograph Lado – Croatian National Treasure. Challenged by the highly present and recognisable profile of the ensemble Lado in Croatia and abroad, I focus my study on less visible parts of their mosaic that paints a perfect picture for the public and the audience. Using the Life History method that is based on in-depth interviews, I paint the portraits of two female performers in the Ensemble, those who dedicate their lives to the stage. What lingers in their personal lives after the stage lights are out ; what are the dual identities of the professional dancers and their private persons, entwined and complementing each other, and constantly changing.
