Sažetak
We are witnessing an increase in demand for energy in modern society. Esti- mations of the recognized world professional association for energy productions are that will continue to grow energy production trend from boiler plants with respect to reserves of different types of fuel and reliability of these plants. In order to increase the operating parameters of the boiler plants, it is essential to develop new materials that should enable higher efficiency in energy conversion in the boiler plant. Investigations performed on low alloyed and high-alloyed steels for operation at elevated temperatures have shown that it is possible to significantly increase the operating parameters of the boiler system (pressure, temperature) and energy efficiency compared to previously used materials that are of proven quality but at a lower operating parameters and efficiency. The authors provide an overview of modern low- alloyed and high-alloyed steels used in boiler plants with associated mechanical and other properties, as well as examples of successful technology of arc welding processes. Beside resistance to creep (creep rupture strength), in these steels is especially important resistance to high temperature corrosion, which depending on the operating conditions can occur in a different variants.
