Sažetak
The thesis presents the analysis on the orthographical and morphological levels of anglicisms in the Croatian language. The source of the corpus was five Croatian news portals: tportal.hr, index.hr, jutarnji.hr, dnevnik.hr and 24sata.hr, some of the most visited portals which abound in loanwords that enter the Croatian language and therefore present a fertile ground for the study. Firstly, the work introduces the theoretical concept of contact linguistics describing its history, relevant terminology and Rudolf Filipović’s work. Secondly, it presents the methodology and the presentation of the corpus. Furthermore, it brings an insight of anglicisms on the Internet as well as the development of the Croatian news portals. The last part is the analysis which was conducted following the classification proposed by Rudolf Filipović and offers the answer to the question what types of adjustment of loanwords are most commonly used. The combination of the pronunciation and orthography was the prevailing category when analyzing loanwords. The most common parts of speech were nouns which were mostly assigned to the masculine gender following ‘the masculine tendency’.
