Sažetak
- post-socialism can't be defined as state or period of transition, but as the process embedded in everyday practice of actors related to contesting or agreeing with the dominant norms of western capitalism (i.e. norms of western science and HE systems) (echoing Burawoy and Verdery, 1999) ( - Croatian post-socialist academic system has been battlefield between for the last 20 years over proposed minor or major reforms of any aspect of the system, whether related to the higher education or science and technology policies, it has been polarized between those supporting western norm and those denying its superiority (for different reasons). - Research shows that the qestions related to science and HE policy issues are debated and negotiated on everyday basis in various disciplines in different ways, depending not just on different social or cognitive organisation of disciplinary knowledge but also on different socio-historical context of disciplines, fields, subfields and even institutions - The main point is that there were and are different socialist and post-socialist disciplinary specific materialities that have to be taken into account when we talk about social and political transition of academic system of post-socialist country (STS contribution)
