Sažetak
Underground exploitation is different from surface quarrying only in the first stage, the removal of top slice, descending slices are worked as in conventional quarries. Underground exploitation of dimension stone is spreading lately for three main reasons: economy, organisation, and environment. In underground dimension stone exploitation, stability problems require adequate studies and stability checks in order to avoid expansive artificial support measures. The analyses of room stability and pillar design for the Kanfanar quarry was made on the basis of numerical modelling with the finite difference code FLAC.
