Sažetak
This paper deals with the comparison of English and Croatian phonetic systems. Consonants are described in terms of place and manner of articulation and vowels can be described only in terms of place of articulation. In English, vowels are divided on monopthongs, diphthongs and triphthongs. Moreover, speech sounds are divided according to their articulatory and acoustic properties. Considering the comparison of two phonetic systems, it appears that Croatian and English phonetic systems have a great similarity.
