Sažetak
In attempts to find new bioactive phosphonates with suitable ligand properties, we develop a convenient and efficient method for the preparation of two types of quinoline-based dialkyl alpha-aminophosphonates ; those of [alpha-anilino-(2-quinolylmethyl)]phosphonic acid (type A) and [alpha-(3-quinolylamino)-N-benzyl]phosphonic acid (type B). Reaction of an equimolar amount of appropriate aldehyde and amine gave the corresponding Schiff base, which by addition of dialkyl phosphite afforded formation of dialkyl phosphonates. Individual steps, condensation reaction and phosphite addition, were examined by IR and NMR spectroscopy.
