Sažetak
The purpose of the paper is to give insight into the role of cooperative associations in promoting good governance models and mechanisms. The author addresses two main research questions: which are the appropriate governance models for cooperatives and how can cooperative associations help cooperatives in adopting good governance practices. The research was based on a review and interpretive analysis of literature (in the first part of the paper), and on a comparative approach (in the second, empirical part of the paper). The paper compares the educative role of cooperative associations from Austria, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia. The results indicate a great unused potential of cooperative associations for enhancing adoption of good governance practices in cooperatives.
