Sažetak
Mononeuropathies are lesions of particular peripheral nerves manifested in sensory and motor disorders as well as in vegetative changes in the innervated area. Frequently, they arise as a secondary occurrence, as a result of direct trauma, compression, straining, ischemia, infection or they accompany inflammatory diseases. Analysis was conducted in 737 patients suffering from mononeuropathy who were examined in the period between 2001 and 2005 in Electomyoneurographic laboratory of Department of Nurology, University Hospital Osijek. We analysed how successful applied treatment was ; both clinically and electromyoneurographically in 112 patients who had lesions of one or more nerves caused by trauma. Out of the total number of 9.674 patients who underwent EMNG in the five- year period, there were 737 patients (7, 62%) suffering from mononeuropathy. Of that number, man accounted for 394 patients (53, 46%) and women accounted for 343 patients (46, 54%). Most patients suffering from mononeuropathy aged between 45 and 54 (248 patients, i.e. 33, 64%), between 55 and 64 (129 patients, i.e. 17, 5%), whereas the smallest number of patients aged between 15 and 24 (67 patients, i.e. 9, 09%). The most frequent cause of mononeuropathy was traumatic lesion of and isolated single nerve- 192 patients (26, 5%), as well as compression of the individual nerve in the bone channel (due to the position and repeated movement of extremities)-in 192 patients (26, 05%). In 123 patients (16, 69%) a number of peripheral nerves had traumatic lesions. In as many as 97 patients (13, 6%) we could not determine the cause of lesions, whereas 52 patients (6, 91%) suffered from diabetes mellitus, 27 patients (3, 66%) had systemic disease, 25 patients (3, 39%) suffered from inflammation/spread from the surrounding structures/, and there also were 23 (3, 12%) with thyroid dysfunction and 7 patients (0, 95%) suffering from uremia.
