Sažetak
The master’s thesis deals with the topic of selected performance analysis of a light sport aircraft based on flight test measurements, and these analysis are used afterwards for performance chapter of the AC4 aircraft flight manual. As an introduction, general AC4 aircraft characteristics, together with the used flight tests equipment, are described. Afterwards, the process of performance evaluation from flight test measurements is covered. This process starts with recording of flight parameters using data acquisition system. Climb and glide performance are analysed for each configuration i.e. flap setting, where the final results follow from flight test data analysis. Furthermore performance is evaluated by analytical approach, although such approach is not required by certification regulations. Still, it is interesting to compare experimental and analytical approach and review the results. The comparison shows that the discrepancy between results is below 10%. Finally, range and endurance performance are determined using Breguet formulas. Graphs for range and endurance intended for pilot usage are shown at the end of the thesis. This thesis was written in collaboration between the author and design organisation, Aircraft Design & Certification, who were involved in the certification process of the Lightwing AC4 light sport aircraft. The certification process required flight testing of the aircraft, and the author was given a chance to participate in flight test campaign due to his pilot and engineering knowledge.
