Sažetak
Background: The aim of this investigation is comparison of analgesic effects between intravenous metamizol and paracetamol as adjunctive to opioid analgesics after total hip arthroplasty. Study is prospective, randomized and double blinded. Methods: We included 110 patients who were divided in two groups. Morphine PCA pump was used in both groups. In first group intravenous paracetamol was used as adjunctive therapy, 1 gram every 8 hours during 24 hours postoperatively. In second group metamizol was used as adjunctive therapy, 1, 5 gram every 8 hours during 24 hours postoperatively. The difference between two groups was determined by measuring pain intensity using VAS. Results: In this study both analgesics provide adequate postoperative analgesia in combination with morphine PCA. Metamizol is proved as better analgesic in comparation Conclusions: We have proved that both analgesics in combination with opioids are very effective in pain relief in postoperative period after total hip arthroplasty. Metamizol is more powerful than paracetamol. It is important to mention that intravenous paracetamol is about ten times more expensive than intravenous metamisol.
