Sažetak
The aim of study was to determine the medication used during the early management and the rehabilitation period to the end phase, four to eight years after the injury, in the group of patients with penetrating craniocerebral injuries, the outcome of patients treated, taking into account the type and severity of cerebral lesion. 43 male patients with penetrating brain injures were treated in Osijek University Hospital during the war activities in the Osijek region (East Croatia) at the beginning of the Croatian Defense War (1991.-1992.), and were followed afterwards during the rehabilitation period until the end of treatment. We analysed the management protocols of patients with various types of craniocerebral injuries, containing data on the type and degree of neurological deficit, immediately after injury, during the follow-up period, and at the end after the completed rehabilitation, after 4-8 years. The neurosugical treatment was in our patients defined as less "aggressive" and more conservative, with use of antiedema medication, antibiotics and antiepileptics as described in the Israeli soldiers in the Lebanese conflict.
