Sažetak
Eastern Adriatic Coast has been influenced by the art of the Eastern Roman Empire (later Byzantium) throughout the 5th and 6th century. The influence spread from the Dalmatian cities to the surrounding territories. Different types of the ecclesiastical buildings were spread along the coast: the cathedrals and churches in the cities, the monasteries, churches of the smaller communities, chapels inside the military forts, etc. The churches were being dedicated to different saints: some of the dedications served to spread the imperial or church propaganda, and some of them were in connection with the increasing number of the military units. There is also a certain number of the local saints and martyrs whose cults emerge at the first centuries A.D. Certain archaeological finds and the tradition confirm the existence of the pilgrim roads that suggest the worship and distribution of the relics from all parts of the Empire. The dedications of some churches remained unsolved. In this paper the author is trying to study and solve some of them in order to adapt the recent scientific discoveries into a context of the Byzantine ecclesiastical, political and also, the less famous “every day” history
