Sažetak
This paper concludes the � Harmful shipboard electromagnetic fields� trilogy published in ELMAR proceedings, as a result of multi-institutional research conducted in Split and Zagreb in 1998-2000. The paper deals with potential harmful effects of EM fields onboard a ship. Typical X-band navigational radar is analyzed as EM field source and fields originating from its antenna are measured on the ship deck. Military standards for personnel, ordnance and fuel irradiation are considered and compared to the real situation. Fields are found to be under the appropriate permissible exposure limits (PELs) for personnel and ordnance. Fuel operations should be avoided during radar operation.
