Sažetak
The purpose of this paper is to analyses the quality of corporate governance in Croatian banking industry given the requirements and standards known as OECD Principles of Corporate Governance, but also given the recent failure of banks in Croatia. The paper provides an assessment of fulfillment of normative frame of corporate governance in terms of creating the legal and institutional regulatory framework as well as the degree of objectives given the best practices available. It also provides an evaluation of the banks in Croatia in terms of meeting the set of standards and best practices in corporate governance. We found that although formally most requirements are met, performance by mostly small and state owned banks in Croatia given their corporate governance may be considered flawed.
