Sažetak
Efficient utilisation of available biomass resources can be of great importance for sustainable development of rural areas and for meeting Europe’s goals for 2020. Critical for efficient utilisation of local biomass resources is location and size of power plants as well as heat demand in the region. In this paper, two-stage methodology for optimal placement of the power plants for district heating has been presented. In the first stage, data acquisition and data processing system for record and graphical display of the regional biomass potential and heat demand has been implemented. This approach employs boundaries of the forestry management units, felling volume and size of management units, roads, location and heat demand of the cities as well as distance between cities and management units. In the second step, optimal location of the power plant was determined by using meta-heuristic techniques with the net present value of the investment as a fitness function. The proposed methodology was applied through case study of Sisak-Moslavina County.
