Sažetak
Quality Management thinking has influenced a revolution in the way organizations are managed over the past few decades. Ideas such as customer focus, ethical management, continuous improvement, Six Sigma, leadership and organizational learning have all been impacted by – and in some cases developed from - this important field. Quality management is an organization-wide approach to understanding precisely what customers need and consistently delivering accurate solutions within budget, on time and with the minimum loss to society. It ensures the effective design of processes that verify customer needs, plan product life cycle and design, produce and deliver the product or service. This also incorporates measuring all process elements, the analysis of performance and the continual improvement of the products, services and processes that deliver them to the customer. Quality management is also referred to as business management or integrated management. Strategic planning, as it has been practiced, has really been strategic programming, the articulation and elaboration of strategies, or visions, that already exist. When companies understand the difference between planning and strategic thinking, they can get back to what the strategy making process should be: capturing what the manager learns from all sources and then synthesizing that learning into a vision of the direction that the business should pursue. Quality management is crucial part of this process. This paper provides a coherent view of the underlying principles quality management and strategic planning, and how these relate to practical application in a range of organizations.
