Sažetak
Thermal methods play an important role among various measuring techniques used in the analysis of explosive materials. Although these methods are usually applied for the characterisation and determination of the thermal properties of an explosive (e.g. melting process, polymorphic transformations, thermal stability, kinetics of thermal decomposition, temperature of initiation, etc.), they can be also used for analytical purposes. Herein we present the possibilities of applying differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TGA) for both qualitative and quantitative analysis of high explosives. We show that these methods may be used for the identification of some commonly used high explosives and their mixtures, for the determination of their purity and quality, for the identification and determination of the content of phlegmatiser and even for the analysis of the multi-component systems.
