Sažetak
Recently in Croatia the descriptive evaulation system of students's achievement has been introduced in the lower grades of elementary school. In this study two comparable samples of the 4th grade pupils, which differed respectively to the evaluation system they had experienced from the 1st to 4th grade were examined using revised version of Harter's I-E orientation scale in order to assess differences in their motivational orientation. Both samples were tested again at the end of their 5th grade when numerical marks reappeared. The general shift toward intrinsic orientation has been observed in both groups with slightly higher average for the group with descriptive evaluation experience. Sex differences are also being discussed.
