Sažetak
Most of the things children do, they learn through playing. Children's play is characterized as intrinsicly motivated. Active participation in play allows children to develop different abilities and skills that are necessary for life in the community. Through play, a child learns to achieve satisfactory relationships with other children and becomes socially competent. The research suggests that there are differences in social competence among children of the same age who attend kindergarten. Learning through play is one of the ways to acquire social skills, so we were interested in whether there are differences in children's play in these different groups. The goal of the research presented in this paper was to determine whether there are differences, and if there are, in which areas of play are they present. For this purpose, a questionnaire was made, based on which the teachers in both kinds of groups observed and recorded different aspects of behavior of children aged 5-7 years in play in order to determine the way in which children organize play activities and how to participate in them. The areas that were looked at were: partnership in play, type of activity, characteristics of play and communication during play. Research results contribute to determining the difference in children's game in homogeneous and heterogeneous classes in kindergartens, which gives us a better insight into the differences in children's social skills.
