Sažetak
The subject of research is defined and limited to ethnic community of Croats and the geographic area of eastern Syrmia. Furthermore, the number and contribution of Croats in the Eastern Syrmia is analyzed, according to the census from the year 1991, and also according to the census from the year 2002. The results of these two lists are compared, and then I am trying to determine the number of emigrants, and analyze the causes that led to their emigration, persecution, and reduction in number. Finally, I am giving insight into present emplacement of the Croatian national minority in the area, relationship with the mother country and the organization and activities of their cultural, educational and religious societies and associations.
